Local Tips & Advice
The high country is renowned for sudden changes in the weather. Be prepared by taking warm protective clothing and sturdy footwear at all times of the year.

Chains that are the correct size for your vehicle must be carried in two-wheel drive vehicles from the NSW June long weekend to the NSW October long weekend:
-from the park boundary at Thredbo River on the Kosciuszko Road
-along the Guthega road
-between Thredbo and Tom Groggin on the Alpine Way
While four-wheel drive vehicles are exempt from fitting chains, the NSW Roads and Traffic Authority recommends that ALL vehicles carry snow chains from the NSW June long weekend to the NSW October long weekend.
For updated road conditions phone the RTA on 132 701 or http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au.
